President Obama attacks decision to free Lockerbie bomber:
“President Barack Obama has denounced Scotland’s release of the convicted Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi as a mistake, and revealed that the US had opened talks with Libya urging the regime to keep the terminally-ill man under house arrest until his death.
Megrahi, who is thought to have only three months to live, was freed on compassionate grounds today. But as the Afriqiyah Airways jet taking him home to Tripoli rose from the runway at Glasgow airport at 3.26pm, it left in its wake a torrent of international condemnation.”
Squelch is going to side with the president on this one. The man was sent to prison to die. That’s where it should happen.
I’m sure the people in the prison hospital would have been capable of compassion. Why is it just and compelling to show more compassion than that, to someone who blows innocent people out of the sky?
