The Iraqi journalist who was jailed for throwing his shoes at George W. Bush said in an interview that he wants to move to Switzerland and rally Iraqis to take the ex-US president to court.
ATLANTA – Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst to President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress last week was an act “based on racism” and rooted in fears of a black president.
“I think it’s based on racism,” Carter said in response to an audience question at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta. “There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.”
The Georgia Democrat said the outburst was a part of a disturbing trend directed at the president that has included demonstrators equating Obama to Nazi leaders.
“Those kind of things are not just casual outcomes of a sincere debate on whether we should have a national program on health care,” he said. “It’s deeper than that.”
Yes, the tide of rhetoric in America has turned against our black president, because he is black. It’s appalling, shocking, hard to even believe, but it’s true.
Never before in the history of the nation have we so disrespected the office of the president that school officials would conspire to prevent children from hearing him speak. Those people are traitors.
At their trials for treason, I would love to hear them confess that it has nothing to do with policy. It’s “I ain’t letting mah chilrins heah no uppity N—-r speechin.”
This whole damn thing reminds me of Blazing Saddles. “The sheriff is a n—-!” It was funny once, now it’s getting more ironic.
Oh baby, you are so talented, and they are so dumb.
God bless America and save the president, whoever’s daft enough to take the thankless job.
Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) said Sunday that he does not plan a second apology to the White House for his “liar” outburst, meaning that House Democratic leaders plan to pursue a resolution of disapproval this week.
“I am not going to apologize again,” Wilson told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”
“I apologized to the president on Wednesday night. … I believe that is sufficient.”
Well, I think Wilson is right. He doesn’t need to apologize to the president again. He needs to stand on the floor of the House and apologize to each and every American citizen. In fact, he needs to kneel there, on uncooked peas, for the rest of his term.
This health care clusterf**k has brought out the worst in US, the stupidest in US, again. But for an elected official to do such a thing in the Capitol is beyond apologizes and vapid excuses. This was an insult to every American, and to every value – conservative and liberal – that we claim to hold.
